Mackenzie Thorpe was born on 17 December 1956. He grew up in the industrial town of Middlesbrough in England. After working in Middlesbrough’s shipyards and docks, he attended Cleveland College of Art and Design before graduating in Fine Art from London’s Byam Shaw School of Art in 1982. In the mid-1990s, Mackenzie’s work (and popularity) grew and he began to gain national and international recognition. He now has over thirty years’ experience as a professional artist. Mackenzie Thorpe’s work is authentically his own, embracing the full range of human emotion… fragility contrasting with strength, love, passion and joy alongside sadness, isolation and struggle. Her work is created with emotion, and this makes it easy to connect with the viewer.
